In the Canadian Province of Ontario, London’s Western Fair District may soon be home to a new casino. So says fair chief executive Hugh Mitchell, reports the London Free Press newspaper.
The hope for a new casino is being fueled by news that British Columbia’s Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Ltd., has taken over provincially run gaming sites across the southwestern portion of the region. Any casino plans would be contingent upon city approval, according to the newspaper.
Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Ltd.’s planned $200-million investment in the region will include more slot machines, and full gaming tables and dealers at the fair site, if the city approves.
The fair currently has slot machines, however, a new gaming center would have table games, feature shows, fine dining, in a mode similar to casinos in Windsor and Niagara Falls.
