Today we are going to check out a keno game in Las Vegas not covered before. The game is at Arizona Charlie’s just north of Decatur and Charleston with easy access by Decatur bus 103 or Charleston bus 206.
The keno counter is adjacent to their excellent 24 hour coffee shop. They offer a variety of playing options and pay tables. Besides their regular $1 rate for 1 to 15 spots they also feature a $1.75 Catch All rate for 3 to 7 spots, a 21 game or more bonus rate for those playing 3 to 8 spots for at least 21 games, the old 7-cent rate for 1 to 15 spots, a keno manager’s rate of $1.25 for 1 through 15 spots, and finally a 40-cent rate for 1 through 15 spots.
Bets may be any multiple of these rates but no reduction is allowed except on the regular and bonus rates if you play enough games or ways. They go as low as a nickel a game if you play 100 games or more and as low as a nickel a way if you play 100 ways or more.
Personally, I always like when you get a little more for playing more games at their bonus rate.
To give you an idea of the bonus the regular rate 7-spot pays $1 for a catch of 4-out-of-7, $15 for 5-out-of-7, $300 for 6-out-of-7 and $9,000 for a solid 7. If you write your ticket for at least 21 games you still get $1 for catching 4-out-of-7, but you get $21 for catching 5-out-of-7, a significant difference of $6. Since you hit 5-out-of-7 on the average every 115 games this is a meaningful difference.
The bonus rate for 6-of-7 is the same $300 as the regular rate but for a solid 7-of-7 you win $9,500, a $500 increase over the regular rate.
Thus, rather than playing a few games, going to the counter and buying a few more games, play 21 games at a time and get paid more. Mr. Charlie came all the way from Arizona to give you, the player, this bonus, so enjoy it. Similar bonuses are paid for 21 games or more for tickets of 3 to 8 spots.
As we all know I like ways and so should you. With Arizona Charlie’s liberal way minimums a lot of fun and action can be had for relatively little. You can play for a dime a way for 15 ways or more. If you play 21 games your pay is based on the bonus rate. As they say, the best of both world’s (except if you are watching Star Trek, The Next Generation where Captain Picard met the Borg whose byline is “Resistance is Futile” in the episode “The Best of Both Worlds”).
Thus we can find a ticket with 15 ways at $1.50 a game at a cost of $31.50 for 21 games, about two hours of fun and games, literally!
Let’s use a grouping of 3-2-1-1-1 and play the 8, the three 7s, the five 5s, and the six 4s for a total of 15 ways. If you also want to play the 6s (there are four of them) then you would add 40 cents per game to cover the added ways. Your 21 game ticket would now cost $39.90
Give in your Ace card (slot card) when you play to build up comps. While playing enjoy the adjacent coffee shop that has a large selection of menu items at very reasonable prices.
If you’re not a local, Arizona Charlie’s is still worth checking out. Just take the Deuce or Strip Express (SDX) from downtown or the Strip to the Bonneville Transit Center and transfer to the 206 Charleston bus to get to Arizona Charlie’s.
This game is definitely worth your time and money and is open from early morning to about midnight, seven days a week. Enjoy and have fun!
