Galaxy Entertainment tries to keep up with Las Vegas Sands
Industry Insider by Ray Poirier |
Trying to keep up, partially at least, with Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS), Galaxy Entertainment, one of the Macau gaming licensees, has announced that it has boosted its Cotai Strip development by 40 percent.
The company said it now expects that their three-hotel/casino projects will cost about $1.8 billion. The change, the company explained, resulted in the development of three hotels that will include Galaxy, Okura and Banyan. Opening date is set for the first quarter of 2011.
Last week, Las Vegas Sands announced it would re-start Cotai Strip development in January with the hiring of more than 11,000 workers.
