Without question daily fantasy has had some true stars break out this season.
Maybe none were as big as Christian McCaffrey and Lamar Jackson.
Now McCaffrey has skyrocketed in price.
He’s gone from $8,800 a high salary at DraftKings to an unthinkable $10,500. And guess what? He’s still delivering. His last four games, 40.6, 29.1, 33.1 and 34.3. And this week against Washington, he’s $10,500 again. Probably worth it believe it or not.
Meanwhile, the dynamic Baltimore QB Jackson is the talk of the NFL. Leading the way as an MVP candidate. It might be down to Russell Wilson and Jackson at this point. A Ravens loss to the 49ers and Wilson’s Seahawks winning the NFC West might be the only way to keep the award out of his hands.
I don’t include the Monday games in the Top 10 weekly because most games don’t use the Monday night game with the Sunday games. Jackson however was the top scoring QB this week with 36.3 points.
Let’s check on the top scorers in Week 12 on DraftKings: Chris Godwin, WR, TB 40.4; Jarvis Landry, WR, 39.8; Leonard Fournette, RB, JAC 36.9; DJ Moore, WR, CAR 34.4; Christian McCaffrey RB, CAR 34.3; Ryan Tannehill, QB, TEN 33.36; Derrick Henry, RB, TEN 32.5; Sam Darnold, QB, NYJ 31.2; Jameis Winston, QB, TB 29.3; Michael Thomas, WR, NO 29.1.
Now to the picks for Week 13.
Josh Jacobs, RB, OAK ($6,900): As soon as people started to believe in the Raiders they go on the road and get demolished at the Jets. Typical.
However at 6-5 they are still in the thick of the AFC playoff race. And only a game back in the AFC West to this week’s opponent Kansas City.
One of my favorite betting and fantasy angles is to back teams that got embarrassed the week before. Doesn’t always pan out as nothing is for sure, but I really think we get a very focused Raiders team especially on offense this week.
Jacobs will be the key factor to the success of this effort, because the best way to beat the Chiefs is keep the ball out of QB Patrick Mahomes’ hands.
KC still has a lot of issues on defense and likely won’t have them fixed by Sunday so I like the Raiders to have a chance to win and Jacobs to run wild.
Projection: 191 total yards, 2TDs.
Diamond in the Rough
Sterling Shepard, WR, NYG ($4,900): The Giants are still pretty banged up, but at least Shepard is back.
The Packers present a pass defense in the middle of the pack and Shepard could benefit in fantasy in a win or a blowout loss.
When a team gets crushed, the ball will get thrown around a lot and I expect the Giants to either be in the game through the air, Shepard getting into the endzone. Or QB Daniel Jones tossing the ball a lot 45-50 times in a blowout loss which means a bunch of targets and yards for Shepard. Either way a win-win.
Projection: 131 total yards, TD.
Top QB: No options worth considering look elsewhere to save some cash.
Top RB: Benny Snell Jr., PIT ($4,700): Fantastic price here on a guy who should be feature back for the second game in a row. With the Steelers likely turning back to the better QB option Devlin Hodges, Snell should have an opportunity to have a promising fantasy game.
Projection: 114 total yards, 2 TDs.
Top WR: Tyler Boyd, CIN ($5,500): Right at the borderline of bargain comes Boyd.
The Cincy WR, will be a huge fan of getting Andy Dalton back at QB and with his type of talent and the fact the Bengals are 0-10 and take on the Jets, he is the one who will do the flying on Sunday.
However, if AJ Green plays pass on Boyd.
Projection: 142 yards, 2TDs
