Time for some random thoughts.
Executive vice-president of baseball operations for the Detroit Tigers, Al Avila, traded his son Alex to the Chicago Cubs. Father’s Day should be happy not awkward, because going to the 2016 World Series Champions is a step up for the left-handed catcher.
The Bears traded up a spot in the draft to get Mitch Trubisky, who played a total of 13 games in college at North Carolina. Trubisky took five snaps in live action the other day and fumbled three times because he lost “focus.” Sorry, the Bears got fleeced.
The Houston Astros second baseman, Jose Altuve, is the best player in baseball. At 5’6”, Altuve is hitting .367 with 15 home runs and 59 RBIs. The dude hits every day, makes plays and is living proof that height and weight don’t matter when it comes to playing baseball. Houston is loaded with talent, but Altuve is the man.
Remember when there was racist graffiti written on LeBron James’ property and it was a serious problem? Did it really occur and if so, what happened to the story?
Don’t look now, but the Cubs are 13-3 since the All-Star break.
Congrats to Adrian Beltre, who had a double on Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles to give him 3,000 hits. Probably 85% of the people don’t know who he is, but the Texas Rangers third baseman is the newest and the 31st member of the “3000 hit club.”
