There will be no further legislative action in Illinois this year on bills dealing with poker, casino games and daily fantasy sports now that the State Legislature finished its special veto session late last week.
The session was primarily designed for the legislature to override any bills vetoed by the governor. However, it also provides a brief window for pending legislation to be considered.
All active bills, including those dealing poker, casino games and daily fantasy sports can return for consideration during the 2018 session in both the House and the Senate starting in January.
Industry observers believe that due to the contentious nature of state politics, its impossible to tell what legislators might do in these areas in the future. However, the issue will certainly be discussed again in 2018.
