It’s that time of year again, when many people pack their bags and head out to gather with family and friends and enjoy a Thanksgiving feast.  Thanksgiving football has become a big part of family traditions in many families.  For some, the annual tradition includes a trip to Vegas!

This year’s Thanksgiving Thursday include three NFL games that feature the Minnesota Vikings against the Detroit Lions, the L.A. Chargers against the Dallas Cowboys, and the New York Giants against the Washington Redskins.  The odds for the sides have two of the three within a touchdown, and the Over/Under for two of the three under 45.

Of the three, I’m going to focus on the Thursday Night Football game where the New York Giants are heading to Washington D.C. to take on the Redskins.  This is An NFC East division matchup and the Giants, believe it or not, are coming off of a game where they actually won.  So all hope is not lost with Big Blue, even though having the Giants pull off a victory would be against all odds.

That’s the very reason why you might want to consider taking this side dish. With the Redskins favored by 7.5, the Giants might cover simply because they are playing in primetime, it’s the holiday, and let’s face it, there’s always that chance.  By the way the line opened at Washington -7 and moved just slightly since then.

Taking a look at the total might be worthwhile, if you keep in mind that the Giants have scored just one touchdown in five quarters. Does this mean it will be a low scoring game?  Not necessarily, because the Redskins can usually put up some points, and their last two games the totals have far exceeded 44.5.  Okay, but they were not playing against the Giants!

Things to keep in mind if you’re going to bet this game: Both teams are coming off games that went into OT last Sunday.   The Giants want to win because it might give them a boost of confidence and respect, while Redskins still have playoff hopes, however, they might be dim.

Wanting to win and winning are two different things.  This game should go to the Redskins and there’s a good chance they will cover.  The hook could be a problem, so if you’d rather skip the side and take the total, go under.

Pick: Redskins at -7 and UNDER 44.5
