For those readers who have gone on this journey with me, one thing has been perfectly clear. I am not great at making hockey selections.
Now some of you might say, well 9-13-2, there have been worse. I agree but still I expect more out of myself and I really need to hunker down.
Vegas snapped a three-game losing streak this past Sunday with a win over the Arizona Coyotes in overtime. That win puts the Golden Knights four points behind the Los Angeles Kings for first place in the Pacific Division. Vegas has continued its road struggles, dropping both contests away from T-Mobile Arena in the previous four-game stretch.
Let’s look ahead to this week’s slate.
Anaheim at Vegas
Projected Line: DUCKS +115, VEGAS -135
In their only meeting thus far, Vegas won at the Honda Center, 4-2, the third of a five-game winning streak. Since then the Ducks have won only once in seven games. Anaheim will be looking to get even now heading to the Knights’ home ice.
No one has had the injury bug quite like Anaheim, who right now has Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, Jakob Silfverberg and Rickard Rakell out, to name a big few. Because of the banged up nature of the Ducks it should be a great night for the Knights to get ready for the next two games on the road. KNIGHTS
Vegas at Nashville
Projected Line: KNIGHTS +185, PREDATORS -220
At press time the Predators had gone 7-2-1 in their last 10 and boast a 10-2-1 record at home, similar to the Knights. There is no real reason to overthink this one. Just as the Knights seem to have home games figured out, if anyone caught the NHL Playoffs last season you know what Welcome to Smashville means. PREDATORS -1.5
Vegas at Dallas
Projected Line: KNIGHTS +170, STARS -200
The Golden Knights got completely outplayed in their inaugural game in Dallas, yet they came away with the win thanks to the heroics of James Neal. Since that fateful night the Stars have rolled off 16 wins, including one at T-Mobile Arena last week. My guess is the Stars play this game similarly and give the Knights all kinds of trouble. The catch here is Vegas will remember the previous game, getting shut out in front of their fans, and will keep this close, possibly going to overtime. Regardless, with a likely high price take a shot on – KNIGHTS +1.5
