Vegas has its Wranglers on for National Finals Rodeo

Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, better known simply as NFR is here. It’s annually one of the biggest events taking place in Las Vegas. The official dates run from Dec. 7 to 16. Look for specials all around town.

Plaza

Every night of NFR, there will be a free viewing party in its new Events Center, which has 18 large high-definition television screens and seats up to 400 guests. Guests attending NFR can take advantage of the free shuttle service to the Thomas & Mack Center offered nightly from 5 to 7 p.m. and returning 9 to 10:30 p.m., in time for the NFR After Parties with live entertainment in the Omaha Lounge on the casino floor.

Oscar’s Steakhouse will have three special menu items during NFR: a special braised short rib over country grits with fried onions, a slow roasted prime rib with loaded mashed potatoes and green beans, and a Whiskey BBQ glazed sirloin steak with baked potato and Brussels sprouts, each for $35. Reservations for dinner are recommended and can be made online at www.oscarslv.com or by calling 702-386-7227.

The Plaza’s casino bars will also have several drink specials, including: Outlaw shots of Crown Royal Canadian Whiskey, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey or Jim Beam Bourbon for $3; a Gussied Up Shot of Gentleman Jack Whiskey for $5; and Cowboy Brews, bottles of Coors Banquet, Coors Light or Miller Light beers for $3 each.

Hard Rock

The hotel-casino is an official NFR host with themed menus, country music entertainment, viewing parties and room specials Dec. 7-16. The property will offer a live NFR feed at Goose Island Pub and all casino bars and a free nightly shuttle service to and from the Thomas & Mack Center.

Within walking distance from NFR, locals and visitors alike can enjoy a western-themed menu at the 24-hour diner Mr. Lucky’s Café, including Short Rib Scramble ($15) for breakfast served with wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, potatoes and garlic toast; a Wedge Salad ($9) topped with smoked bacon, crispy fried onions and Maytag Blue cheese dressing; Barbecue Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese ($14) with aged cheddar, pickles and Cole slaw; and Braised Prime Pot Roast ($19) served with jalapeño and bacon baked beans and creamed corn bread.

Planet Hollywood

Cabo Wabo Cantina, located inside Miracle Mile Shops will welcome NFR with live music and drink specials Dec. 7-16. Music acts will include live performances from Ryan Whyte Maloney, Jeremy James and Justin Carder. Guests may also enjoy buckets of beer, priced at $26; shot specials, starting at $5; and signature cocktails including the CW margarita, crafted with Cabo Wabo tequila and Grand Marnier and served on the rocks, priced at $10.

Treasure Island

Gilley’s Saloon, Dance Hall & Bar-B-Que will offer nightly live entertainment. With performances from Scotty Alexander, Rob Staley, Chancey Williams, Trick Pony and Arnie Newman, Gilley’s is the home of country music during NFR. A $10 cover charge begins at 9 p.m. In addition to live entertainment, Gilley’s will stream all the NFR action live starting at 6:45 p.m. nightly. NFR bull riders will sign autographs at Gilley’s on Dec. 13 from noon to 2 p.m.

Flamingo

At 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar rodeo-goers can enjoy a country DJ, nightly drink specials and line-dancing beginning at 8 p.m. Fans can also visit the bar for Miller/Coors rider autograph signings on Dec. 9 and 15, starting at 11 p.m. Cowboys and cowgirls can visit Garden Bar for drink specials, line-dancing and live rodeo streaming. Garden Bar will also feature Miller/Coors rider autograph signings on Dec. 9 and 15, starting at 10 p.m.
