Amid recent data showing many newly opened New York State casinos are not meeting their revenue projections, the Oneida Nation's newest casino in Bridgeport in Madison County, is now scheduled to open March 1.
Bridgeport is about a 25-minute drive, 15 miles northeast of Syracuse.
The Point Place Casino, when first announced had targeted a spring opening, but has moved its unveiling date up several weeks because construction is progressing ahead of schedule.
The 65,000-square-foot facility created an estimated 250 trade union construction jobs, and when open will employ more than 200 people, according to the Oneida Nation. Point Place is $40 million-plus casino that will be smoke-free, with a gaming floor featuring nearly 500 slot machines and 20 table games.
Oneida officials say there will be a grand opening on the casino's first day and they will announce a schedule of events shortly.
