New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) director David Rebuck last week told online sports betting operators the time to apply for a New Jersey sports betting license is right now. Rebuck spoke at a conference in London on the final day of the ICE Totally Gaming Exhibition.
“Don’t sit back and wait for the regulations,” Rebuck told the crowd. “If you sit and wait you will be left behind.”
This, as the sports betting industry, the NCAA and the U.S. professional sports leagues among others await a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the legality of the law that currently prohibits Nevada-style sports wagering in every other state. A ruling is expected in the next few months.
Director of Licensing at the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) Susan Hensel, who shared the stage with Rebuck, told attendees her state was not yet ready to accept license applications.
