Poor weather is being blamed for Atlantic City’s weak showing in January as gambling revenue was down by nearly 10 percent, according to data released Wednesday by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
The figures show the seven casinos won $184.3 million in January, down 9.9 percent from January 2017. The Golden Nugget was the lone casino posting a monthly revenue increase, up by 1.7 percent over 2017.
A major winter storm Jan. 4 pummeled New Jersey and neighboring states leaving some portions of the southern part of the state with up to two feet of snow.
