Star Wars virtual reality experience now at Venetian

Star Wars is back – this time in virtual reality. It can be experienced at the Venetian’s Canal Shoppes Sundays through Thursdays, 10 a.m.-10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. until midnight.

I remember the old Hilton, now Westgate, having a Star Wars show about 20 years ago. It was fun but this new show definitely outdoes that. You get virtual reality goggle visors, backpacks with a mobile PC, vests so you can “feel” what’s going on and VR guns to help fight the empire. You feel like you are actually in that far away galaxy! In addition to being fun, it is not a budget breaker. Tickets range from $32.95 to $36.95. It is also family friendly.

Solomon hits South Point

South Point has a comedy – Steve Solomon’s “My Mother is Italian, My Father is Jewish & I’m in Therapy!” I’ve seen it before, but am looking forward to seeing it again. It hits the stage May 11-13. Solomon creates over 30 different characters right there on the stage with various voices and dialects. It’s a true gem.

More eats at Rampart

Flower Child, a healthy food restaurant, has opened its portals at Rampart Commons - West Charleston and Rampart - with delicious and heart healthy choices. It already had a great following. It shares the turf there with North (Italian) and the always great, PF Changs.

Kansas rising at Sunset

Kansas – of rock and roll fame – comes to the Sunset Station outdoor amphitheater Saturday, June 2. I remember going to the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, N.Y., to see them over 30 years ago and they were sensational. Don’t miss your chance to see them at Sunset.

Do not miss Richard Cheese at the Rocks Lounge at Red Rock Resort on June 29, performing swingin’ Vegas versions of rock and rap songs. It will sell out so get your tickets early.

MGM properties attract legends

For fun, take in the roller coaster at New York-New York! On a hot day nothing beats the thrill and cool rush of a roller coaster doing its dips and turns as you watch the Strip’s activity below.

On May 27 Paul Simon is Homeward Bound at the MGM Grand Arena for his farewell tour. Catch it now or kiss your chance good-bye!

Cher, my cher-ific Cher and glamorous lady is at the Park Theater for six more shows this month. If you don’t catch her now you will have to wait until the end of October. I have seen her so many times – and each time feels like a new experience. She has quick wit, funny, her voice fabulous, and her costumes are the epitome of craftsmanship and delight!

V acts on Fire

Earth, Wind and Fire – the 100 million album selling superstars from 1969 and still going strong (next year - 50 years!) – is a must see experience!

Now, through May 12, you can see them at 8 p.m. at the Venetian. I have seen them and they are an amazing group.

BAZ – A Musical Mash Up is still going strong at the Venetian. It is a glorious mix of music from Baz Luhrmann’s wonderful love story films – “The Great Gatsby,” “Romeo and Juliet” and “Moulin Rouge.” Luhrmann, of course, directs and the cast is most beautifully attired. It is a wonderful show, a fantasy of days gone by.

Project returns

June 9 brings The Alan Parsons Live Project to the Westgate. This 11-time Grammy nominee has had an amazingly successful career as a producer, songwriter and performer.

Further down the calendar, on Dec. 12, also at Westgate, is two-time Grammy winning American country folk singer-songwriter John Prine with his Tree of Forgiveness Tour. Tickets are on sale now – do not wait.

Go Knights

The Golden Knights equal Gold, Gold, Gold – my Golden Knight dreams!  Just eight more wins to the Cup!

Pray for Ben

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned my pal, Lu, had surgery. Your prayers worked and she thanks my readers for caring. Last week, her husband, Ben, underwent emergency heart surgery, and is now on the road to recovery.

Prayers, again, please; I do believe they are very helpful. Get well, quickly, Ben. Lu needs your smile and quick wit!

Happy Mother’s Day from The Reverend, Monti Rock III, and Zozo, the wonder dog!
