Parking myself in MGM elegance

The Monte Carlo has gone – it now officially Park MGM. No more naming resorts for places around the globe. Keep it clean, keep it elegant; keep it simple. People like that – I am staying at The Park – sort of like The Plaza (NYC) used to be, or the St. Regis or The Carlyle. Classy!
Ricky Martin will be at The Park for the busy Memorial Day weekend. He opens May 23 and has performances on Saturday and Sunday, May 27 and 28, with three more shows scheduled for May 30, June 2-3. Bruno Mars will be there July 25, 27 and 28.
Most exciting will be the debut of Lady Gaga’s residency in December. Exact dates haven’t been set yet but I wonder if she will be doing the countdown on New Year’s Eve, ushering in 2019. Stay tuned!
The beautiful Cher will not be back until the end of October, which is good because it will give her time to work out some issues. On Wednesday, May 9, she came to the stage one hour late! My dear, Cher, don’t you realize this is Las Vegas – where you are in residency? I never want to put down a performer as great as Cher – so talented and gracious – but one hour?
Your fans depend on you my dear. They have restaurant reservations, meet-ups with friends, perhaps other shows to see. It is not fair to your high-paying ticket holders. I still love you, Cher – adore you, actually, please, fix this time glitch.
Barry Manilow – I am a fan – is coming to the International Theater at Westgate! It is like coming home as he played there when it was the Hilton. Do not miss this timeless, ageless, performer who still wows them all with his musicianship and vocals and showmanship! He opens May 24.
With 50 Top 40 hits to choose from – “Mandy,” “Copacabana,” “Looks Like We Made It” and so many more – it should be a great show. By the way, did you know Barry is from Brooklyn, New York? So did Barbra Streisand. Interesting factoid.
Human Nature’s show Jukebox is at The Sands Showroom at the Venetian. This is a favorite of mine. It takes you back to the days of doo-wop, soul and Motown and then moves along to pop hits of today. You are sure to feel like a teenager again.
I love Venetian, especially the Grand Café Lux – great food, great prices, great portions – a real New York style diner/restaurant in one!
Marilyn! The New Musical – an original musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe – is gearing up for its grand opening at Paris Las Vegas on June 1 – the iconic star’s 92nd birthday. This is a surefire hit for Vegas!
The show will feature Ruby Lewis, an acclaimed Broadway actress, as Marilyn, and will have both original tunes and classic numbers such as “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend.” Preview performances begin May 23.
The Buckinghams – “Kind of a Drag,” “Don’t You Care,” “Hey Baby (They’re Playing Our Song)” – will be at the Golden Nugget on June 1.
Rod Stewart – my soccer ball pal – will be at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace for select dates June 12-30. See him, see him, see him – he is an amazing man with amazing talent! This show is fun for all ages.
Nine Inch Nails will be on the stage at the Joint at the Hard Rock come June 13, 15 and 16. This show will definitely sell out. Do not wait to buy tickets.
At the cinema
I saw “Tully” this past week. I am hopelessly in love with Academy Award winning Charlize Theron. The movie deals with a mother who is struggling with two children and has an unplanned third child. There is lots of emotion and an unexpected friendship that develops. It is a must see.
“Ocean’s 8” opens on June 8 and I will not miss this one! Sandra Bullock is a parolee who masterminds a major heist of a $150 million necklace at New York City’s annual Met Gala.
Knights & Tiger
Our Golden Knights come back home Wednesday for the first of two games against Winnipeg. For sure there will be a wild scene at T’Mobile rooting our home team on.
Back in Las Vegas is Tiger Jam on May 18-19 with Tiger Woods hosting a number of events for his Foundation. It will be an action-packed weekend of world-class golf, high-stakes poker and elite VIP experiences at MGM. NFL stars Reggie Bush and Larry Fitzgerald are among the guests.
Enjoy the hot days and fun nights in Vegas!
Love, Monti and Zozo, the wonder dog!
