Conor McGregor, much to the delight of corporate Las Vegas, has stepped up his preparations for his UFC comeback, by diving into the Irish Sea for a night training swim session.

UFC chief Dana White announced last week that McGregor will take on lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 on Oct. 6 at the T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip. Some casino industry observers cited lack of a major combat or boxing event this summer, along with fewer meetings and conventions, as having negatively impacted casino company earnings. Floyd Mayweather Jr. defeated McGregor via technical knockout last Aug. 26, also at T-Mobile.

Nurmagomedov, generally just called Khabib, currently holds the longest undefeated streak in MMA history, with 26 wins.

McGregor and training partner Cian Cowley took McGregor’s boat out on the coast of Ireland on Saturday. The Irish fighter posted about his late night adventures on Instagram.

Many, including UFC head Dana White, are calling the October clash the biggest fight in the history of the UFC and capable of generating over two million pay-per-view buys.
