The El Cortez Hotel and Casino is the longest continuously-running casino in Las Vegas.
Located off the Las Vegas Strip in the Fremont East Entertainment District within the historic Downtown, the El Cortez first opened its doors on the corner of 6th and Fremont Streets in 1941, and was so successful that it attracted the attention of Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel and Meyer Lansky, who bought the property.
In 1963 it went to another Vegas “family,” when Las Vegas icon Jackie Gaughan bought the El Cortez. He remained in charge until 2006, when he sold the property to the Ike Gaming Co. run by longtime casino executive Kenny Epstein.
The hotel offers an array of suites and rooms. Hotel guests always receive free airport drop-off shuttle service from 7 a.m.–2 p.m. every day and upon check-in, all guests receive a complimentary glass of wine or 12 oz. domestic draft beer with the purchase of an entrée in the restaurant.
