Washington state legislators have reopened discussions to legalize some aspects of sports gambling.
A proposed House Bill 1975 was introduced late last week. As explained by a Seattle Times report, “calls for professional and college sports wagering to be legalized within tribal gaming facilities. The bill also calls for the legalization of online sports gaming within those same tribal facilities — which would represent a significant shift for the nation’s only state where any form of internet gambling is currently a Class C felony.”
If approved, one regulator went on record stating it could open the door for “wider-spread sports gambling” after decades of it being banned.
