Back in 1992, former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue testified in front on congress calling for a ban on sports gambling. Because of that ban, the idea of an NFL franchise — let alone any professional sports franchise — in Las Vegas seemed far-fetched for generations of sports fans.
Fast forward to September 2020: How the time has changed for Vegas sports. Not only do you have a hockey team playing in the NHL Western Conference Finals for the second time in three years, but you have an NFL squad set to kick off this weekend.
This week the focus is on NFL “pick-em” contests. Be sure to check-in with the sportsbook regarding the possibility of a potentially shortened season or even canceled games.
By entering both the “Circa Sports Million II” and “Circa Survivor” football contests, you get two free nights at either the D or Golden Gate Hotel. You can upgrade your room by buying the maximum number of entries for the contests: three entries for Circa Sports Million, and five entries for Circa Survivor.
The entry fee for this year’s contests is $1,000. The spread for each contest is posted on Thursday’s with selections due by 3 p.m. on Saturday’s (the Thanksgiving week spread is posted on Wednesday before the games). Make five selections over the course of 17-weeks. Registration ends at 2 p.m. on Saturday during NFL Week 1.

Each week pick the winner for every Sunday game, along with the Monday night winner. Picks need to be placed before the start of the first game on Sundays each week.
There’s a total of $300,000 in cash prizes. Each week there is $10 thousand prize for whoever picks the most winners—if there’s a tie, the prize is split between the number of tied participants. The person with the most wins at the end of the season gets a $20,000 bonus. The second-place prize is $7,500, followed by $2,500 for third place. The same split rule applies in the event of a tie for season prizes.
The Rampart is warming up for the kickoff to the NFL season with two football-related promotions this month. With “Red Zone to Riches,” players get a free card each week. From there, make your weekly picks for the Sunday games along with the Monday night game. Your prediction of the Monday night game score serves as a tiebreaker. The prizes for the weekly contest are $500 cash for first place, $300 cash for second, and $200 for third.
The “Beat the Bookie” promotion also gives you a free pick. Winners beating the bookie get a share of a $2,000 free slot play/free bets pool prize. The $2,000 free slot play is added to the following week’s pool, if there’s no winner in a given week.
