2020 has been a year where we have seen a lot of restaurants close due to the economic conditions that the pandemic has caused. To be able to write about a brand-new restaurant that just opened in a brand-new casino is really exciting.
This week, the wife and I went to Barry’s Downtown Prime, located inside the new Circa Resort & Casino. The ownership group behind Barry’s Downtown Prime is the same group that ran N9NE Steakhouse at the Palms. As good as N9NE was, Barry’s is even better.
The restaurant decor is pure elegance, from the bar/lounge area to the main dining room. The high-back booths set the stage for you and your special someone to have a romantic dinner as if you are the only ones in the restaurant. There are several extra dining areas that can accommodate small to large parties as well.

We started out with a couple cocktails and appetizers. The cocktail was called “The Adventures of” and was a very refreshing drink made with Huckleberry Vodka. It was a great way to kick off the evening. For my appetizer, I went with the Lobster & Shrimp Potstickers and thoroughly enjoyed them. Lori went with a Wedge Salad which was spot on.
Now it was on to the main course. When you look over the menu, not only will you see all of your choices of cuts of steak, but you also see the name of the farm along with the city and state in which your steak was processed in. It’s that attention to detail that makes the dining experience so special at Barry’s.
Lori went with the 8-oz. Filet and she loved it. I was lucky enough to have a couple bites and can concur it was very good as the filet basically melted in your mouth and was cooked to perfection. For me, I was set to order a big steak, but I asked our waitress Michelle what her favorite item on the menu was and without hesitation immediately said, “I love our lamb chops.”
I do love good lamb chops and went with her recommendation. The Colorado Lamb Chops had a Parmesan crust and were out of this world. These may have been the best lamb chops I’ve ever had. The side dishes are big enough to share and we had the Cream Corn which was very good. I didn’t get a potato side dish as I wanted to be sure to have room for dessert as I already knew what I was getting.
Barry’s has a nice selection of desserts. But we wanted the Baked Alaska. It’s such an old school dish that you just don’t see on menus very often anymore, so we had to have it. We weren’t disappointed.
We really enjoyed our meal and our waitress was outstanding as all of her suggestions were right on the money. Dining at Barry’s was just as much of an experience as it was eating a great meal. From the presentation of the food to the décor of the restaurant, everything was perfect. I give Barry’s Downtown Prime my rare rating of 4 Forks.
