Dogs cover in MMA

If you took my advice last week about the two hyped up fights in UFC 102 and bet the underdogs, you definitely had a nice payday. Thiago Silva destroyed Keith Jardine and finished victorious in just 95 seconds. Randy Couture went the distance against Antonio Nogueira and lost the decision.

On the big stage, MMA will be a bit quiet for the Labor Day holiday weekend. I hope you all have a safe one. Next week we will look at the UFC Fight Night card on Sept. 16, with Melvin Diaz trying to upset the ever rising Nate Diaz and Roger Huerta going at it with Gray Maynard.

On a personal note, I started sparring last night and was fortunate enough to workout with several professional up-and-coming MMA fighters. I am planning to have my first amateur fight in a couple of months and will be working out more in a one-on-one environment. It was great to see what I knew and how much I have to learn.

To all of you aspiring to conquer a goal, be it fighting, studying or moving forward in your career, I wish you the best. Remember, there is a fighter in each one of us when the opportunity arises. If you get knocked down, get up and keep trying!
