GT: How did you get into poker?
GB: “My grandfather had a home game every Friday night where lowball was most frequently played. I got to play when the game got short and that’s where I fell in love with poker. I couldn’t imagine working in any other place than a card room.”
Tell me about your room. How many tables, games you spread, tournaments, amenities, etc.
“The Suncoast poker room has 10 tables featuring the only low limit stud game in town. We spread 2-6 Hold’em and 4-8 Omaha. We have the lowest rake in town, $3 max on all games. We offer $1.25 per hour in comp dollars and the best high-hand promotion ever. It begins with quads and you don’t have to flop them! They progress each day until hit.
“We are giving away over $16,000 during the football games on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Earn a square on the board with an ace high flush or better. We have excellent restaurants. including an award-winning steak house. or grab a quick bite at the Deli and Subway, all located close to the room.
“We have new carpet, huge 65-inch big screen TV’s, unsurpassed air quality and are now on the Bravo app.”
Any special events, tournaments or promotions coming up?
“During the month of October, we have added two more promotions. Kings cracked on Mondays and Thursdays. Lose with pocket Kings and win up to $100. High hand frenzy on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Have the highest hand that hour and win $50.”
What’s your view on the future popularity of poker?
“I really believe the future popularity of poker is with mixed games. I think the younger generation of players are looking for games that are more skill-based and thought provoking.”
What are your interests, hobbies, family life like outside of the poker room?
“Outside of the poker room I enjoy reading, Facebooking and spending time with my four beautiful granddaughters.”
