Two Iconic Blondes - Marilyn and Pink - to Dazzle Vegas in May 2018

Las Vegas is the capital of F-U-N.  If you aren’t cashing in on big fat bonuses or lining up the perfect payday with free $50 pokies you can splash out on some of the best live entertainment on the planet.  This month and every other month Las Vegas showtime is billed by a series of superstars.

Paul Simon is bidding the ‘big time’ farewell on his Homeward Bound tour, Irish rock band U2 is tuning up to deliver a coup de grace and Elton John will make his final desert city appearance at the Colosseum. Cher is scheduled to bowl us all over at the Monte Carlo with her booming voice and big hair and if you hang around the Strip until September, the inimitable Jennifer Lopez is destined to shake her booty clean off the stage.

Although we agree all these shows are hot - real hot - there’s a timeless adage that keeps on popping into my head; blondes have more fun... and Vegas is after all the embodiment of fun.  As of late May the Nevada gambling capital is playing host to two iconic blondes - one long dead and the other buzzing with boisterous energy all over the stage.

If you’re a gentleman who prefers blondes or a lady who loves the thrill of top live entertainment, we suggest you diarise exactly when and where these two showstoppers are scheduled to turn up the desert heat:

Marilyn! The New Musical

Marilyn! The New Musical will premiere at the Paris Las Vegas on what would have been Marilyn Monroe’s 92nd birthday; the 1st of June.  It’s a musical tribute to one of the most famous and flawed female actresses of the Golden Era of Hollywood, a young, talented and extremely sexy young woman who dabbled with presidents, politicians, crooners and Mafia dons.

The musical traces Marilyn’s rapid rise from a small time nobody called Norma Jeane - played by Brittney Bertier - to a million-dollar leading lady who starred in blockbuster box office hits like Some Like it Hot, How to Marry a Millionaire, The Seven Year Itch and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

To her adoring public Marilyn had it all - fame, money, stunning good looks and a career that was on a soaring upward trajectory.  Behind the scenes the blonde bombshell struggled with anxiety, depression and failed relationships.  Her marriages to James Dougherty, baseball legend Joe DiMaggio and celebrated playwright Arthur Miller ended in divorce.  Her childhood was anything but bliss as she spent her early years in an orphanage and later in a string of foster homes.

The musical taps into the good, bad and ugly of Marilyn’s foreshortened life and is told from the perspective of her devoted driver Charlie, played by Frank Lawson.  It’s an epic story about an epic superstar who died alone and unloved from an overdose of barbiturates.

In addition to songs that instantly evoke the image of the glamourous star such as My Heart Belongs to Daddy and Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend, Marilyn! The New Musical features 20 original songs from the pen of director and producer Tegan summer.

In this tribute to an icon of the silver screen, Ruby Lewis of Desperate Housewives fame plays the title role, with Christopher Showerman as Joe DiMaggio, Matthew Tyler as Arthur Miller, Una Eggerts as Jayne Mansfield and Lindsay Roginski as Jane Russell.

Pink: Beautiful Trauma World Tour 2018

The second iconic blonde destined to set the Las Vegas skyline ablaze with her distinctive husky tones and acrobatic performances is Pink, the self-proclaimed hippie cum gangster who is so hot, she’s sizzling.

She’ll be at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas from May the 26 and you can expect the usual fireworks as she belts out the likes of What About Us, her latest best-selling anthem from her seventh album, Beautiful Trauma.

Pink is more than snappy lyrics and hip smacking, toe-tapping action… she’s a woman of substance.  In fact, she’s one of the world’s best-selling artists as the sales of 42 million albums, 76 million singles and 2.5 million DVDS attest.  The seasoned performer with her distinctive and often shorn tom boy hairstyle has racked up eight number one hits, three Grammys, one Brit award and more than half a dozen MTV Music Video awards.

Pink aka Alicia Beth Moore is a wife, mother, animal rights activist and philanthropist who supports dozens of worthy charities.  She’s also the master of her craft, so you can expect a big night out with a big-name entertainer who was Billboard’s Pop Song Artist of the Decade.  She’s exciting, edgy and an all-round performer who simply oozes charisma, attitude and tons of talent too.

What can you anticipate from Pink’s 2018 Beautiful Trauma tour?  Apart from her usual lithe displays of rock n roll you’ll be bombarded with the likes of Revenge, Whatever You Want, Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken, Better Life and I Am Here, together with the lead single What About Us…of course!  Beautiful Trauma was the third best-selling album of the year in 2017… so put on your dancing shoes, slick back your hair and check out a true blue American icon with the short blonde hair!
