MegaKeno in downtown Las Vegas

MegaKeno, the statewide progressive keno from XpertX, has now come to downtown Las Vegas at the El Cortez, home of some of the best keno in town.
The game has progressives for the 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 spots. The 10-spot is often referred to as Mega10.
There are two pay tables in use for the non-solid hits in MegaKeno. The El Cortez, along with the Excalibur, uses the better of the two.
The beauty of MegaKeno being at the El Cortez is that while you are waiting for the progressives to climb, there are so many other excellent keno special rates for you to choose from, including their incredibly high return $1.15 special rate, in a virtual tie with the Deano rate at The D for returns around 85% and higher.
But you need not wait long for a climbing jackpot as MegaKeno does several things to speed up the jackpot progression.
First of all, with six different progressives to choose from, you can play the one that is high enough for you. But, keep in mind that behind the scenes XpertX has a backup meter so when the current meter hits, the backup takes over, thus you rarely start at reset value unless you have two very close back-to-back hits.
Even in this case you still get rapid progressive increases as MegaKeno will use money paid into the other progressives to help a progressive near reset increase. This cross posting really helps the jackpot go up.
The game can be played as way tickets at $1.50 a way. Play a 4-3-2-1. You can play them all at once as you have 1/10 (Mega10), 1/9, 1/8, 2/7 (4-3 and 4-2-1), 2/6 (4-2 and 3-2-1) and 2/5 (4-1 and 3-2) for a total ticket cost of $13.50.
Use your slot card while playing for comp credit and sit in the non-smoking chairs for greater comfort. You can also play MegaKeno while you dine as the 24-hour coffee shop is adjacent to keno.
As info, the 5-spot resets at $1,100, the 6-spot at $3,000, the 7-spot at $15,000, the 8-spot at $50,000, the 9-spot at $50,000, and the 10-spot (Mega10) at $1,000,000.
The El Cortez is easily reached by walking down Fremont Street from the Fremont Street Experience. The Deuce bus stops one block away and the Boulder Express (BHX) stops less than a block away on Ogden Street.
The casino was refurbished a few years ago and is as attractive as any other good downtown casino. The Cabana Tower is 100% non-smoking with very attractive suite-type rooms.
The casino has 3-to-2 blackjack (even single deck), multiple odds on craps, 99%-plus video poker (with proper play), an excellent slot club and, besides the coffee shop, an excellent restaurant, The Flame.
Another good use of MegaKeno is to combine it with other El Cortez special tickets in the same game, taking advantage of a high MegaKeno Progressive along with the high return El Cortez special rates.
Let’s say you like the current Mega10 amount of $1.4 million, the current 9-spot at $153K, and the current 8-spot at $82K, but want to get paid decently for smaller hits as well until the MegaKeno at the lower number of spots gets high enough to entice you.
Play ways to cover the 8, 9, 10 as 2-2-2-2-1-1, giving you 1/10, 2/9, and 5/8 for a total ticket cost of $12. Then play a 3-2-1-1 at their excellent $1.15 rate to cover the 7s, 6s, 5s, which gives you 1/7, 2/6 and 2/5 for a total ticket cost of $5.75
If you are on a tighter budget play a 4-4-1-1 for the MegaKeno giving you 1/10, 2/9 and 1/8 for a total MegaKeno cost of $6 and play the other number of spots at their 40-cent rate.
Enjoy Downtown MegaKeno and may all your numbers come up!
