IGT’s Monster Mansion video slot machine

One of my favorite machines to play when I’m visiting the Jokers Wild casino is IGT’s Monster Mansion. This slot is based on some of Universal Studios’ most popular monsters. Monster Mansions is a 5-reel, 25-line game with a 10x max bet. It has two bonuses, the Monster Bonus and the Lightning Bonus.

This game features monster symbols that come to life when part of a winning combination: Frankenstein gets hit by lightning, the Bride of Frankenstein throws up her arms and screams, the Wolf Man howls at the moon, the Creature from the Black Lagoon waves his flipper hand and swims away, the Mummy unravels and disappears and Dracula turns into a bat and flies away. It also has a spider in a web scatter symbol and a Universal Studios Monsters wild symbol.

The Monster Bonus begins when three Monster bonus symbols land on reels 1, 2 and 3 of a played line. The bonus takes you to a new screen where you are presented with the titles of the six movies.

You pick a monster movie title. Depending on the movie title selected, a different bonus scenario comes alive on the screen, each related to the movie title. In each round, you choose a chest (Creature from the Black Lagoon), a coffin (Dracula), an electrode (Bride of Frankenstein), a casket (the Mummy), an electrical switch (Frankenstein) or a tree (the Wolf Man), each revealing either a credit value or monster. Credit values are added to the bonus meter (a Win All symbol awards all values in that round to the total). Bonus game play continues until either a monster is selected or five rounds are played and none is picked.

The Lightning bonus triggers when three symbols land on reels 2, 3 and 4 of a played line. You select windows – each of which contains a value or a monster – and continue to select windows, collecting the value of each, until all values are revealed or a monster is selected, which gives you one last pick.

I put in my $20 and played 3x per line (75¢) for three spins then went down to 2x per line (50¢). It seems to hit at least once during the first three spins so I start a little higher hoping to get a good hit. This time on the second spin I got a wild symbol on the second and third reels and won $5.50 – worth the extra 75¢. Very shortly after that I got into the Lightning bonus and got four picks before I picked a monster and won $2.40. I got the lightning bonus again and won $2.70.

I finally got into the Monster bonus. I always start with the Wolf Man and the Mummy because on the first two picks there are no monsters hiding. I always seem to get the monster when picking on these titles and leaving Frankenstein for last, where there are four monsters hiding if I get that far, I was usually lucky and picked a credit amount. I got a win all on my second round and got through all the movie titles. I won $11.20 and triggered on two pay lines so my take was doubled to $22.40. I cashed out with $38.20.
