Hard Rock hosts celebrity tournament

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is challenging poker players to put their money where their mouth is during Super Bowl week by hosting the inaugural Trash Talk Championship of the World.

The event in Las Vegas will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, the day before the Super Bowl.

The no limit hold’em poker tournament has a buy-in of $1,070, and will benefit the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Half the prize pool will go to the charity, the other half will be distributed to winners.

In addition, the Trash Talk champion will win the top cash award, a 20-pound custom designed crystal trophy, and a seat in the World Poker Tour’s Celebrity Invitational at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles.

The charity is supported by modern artist Michael Godard, who has dedicated himself to philanthropic causes through his art.

"The funds I help raise save lives," Godard said. "At the end of the day, it’s the most important thing I do."

In addition to playing in a tournament for such a worthy cause, players will get to hobnob with an impressive list of celebrity players. They include Playboy Playmate Sara Underwood, artist Michael Godard, "Who’s Your Daddy" CEO Dan Fleyshman, "The Maven VT" David Chicotsky, Brian Rast and Alec Torelli.

There will also be several professional players in attendance, including Antonio Esfandiari, FBI "tells" specialist Joe Navarro, "Rodeo King" turned professional poker player Lee Markholt, World Series of Poker champ Paul Wasicka, high stakes player Andrew Robl, Keith Gipson and professional poker and backgammon player Sander Lyloff.

Prior to the tournament there will be a red carpet and cocktail reception at the Hard Rock at 2 p.m. The tournament will start at 3 p.m.

Entry fees will also include a $100-$200 high-stakes Trash Talk cash game, silent auction and a Team Victory after party that night.

The event is sponsored in part by VictoryPoker.net and ClubWPT.com.
