Commerce Casino hosts LA Poker Classic

The Los Angeles Poker Classic (LAPC), one of the most anticipated poker series on the tournament schedule, runs through March 3, at Commerce Casino in Los Angeles. The series kicked off on Jan. 15 with Event 1, a $100,000 guarantee $175 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament.

The tournament drew 1,046 players with over $26,000 for first. The LAPC schedule is filled with 56 events over 49 days of varying games and buy-ins ranging from No Limit Hold’em tournaments with buy-ins under $500 to events with buy-ins over $1,000.

Matt Savage, Commerce Casino’s tournament director says, “The LA Poker Classic is off to a great start with over 1,000 entries in the opening event. With 55 more events to go, there are many more opportunities to win big money and the famous Remington trophy!”

Savage continues, “The LAPC features almost every variation of poker, and buy-ins ranging from $75 to $10,000 in the World Poker Tour Main Event.”

For Omaha players, there are a variety of buy-ins and variants of the game to suit every type of player. Event 8 on Thursday, Jan. 21, is a $350 buy-in Omaha 8 or Better/Stud 8 or Better tournament.

Monday, Jan. 25, features Event 11, a $350 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha tournament while Event 15 on Wednesday, Jan. 27, is a $350 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha 8 or better tournament. All three events start at 1 p.m. and are one-day events.

For the romantics out there, Event 36, a $1,100 H.O.R.S.E. tournament held on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, at 1 p.m., kicks off a week of mixed games and Omaha featuring buy-ins of $1,100. Monday, February 15 features Event 37, Omaha 8 or Better, and Wednesday, February 17 at 1 p.m. will feature Event 39, Omaha 8 or Better/PLO 8.

The following week, the big buy-in mixed games continue with Event 45, a $1,100 buy-in Omaha 8 or Better/Stud 8 or Better on Monday, February 22 at 5 p.m. Event 47, a $1,650 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better, will be held Tuesday, February 23 at 5 p.m.

Day 1 of the $10,000 buy-in WPT Championship will begin on Saturday, February 27 at 12 p.m. with the final table taping on Thursday, March 3 at 4 p.m. $1,100 WPT Main Event Mega Satellites run throughout the series. Visit for more information. Follow @LAPC on Twitter for updates.
