On Saturday, July 1, the Vegas Fire and Rescue Charitable Association will host fellow firefighters, neighbors, local celebrities and poker enthusiasts alike at its celebrated annual tournament, with proceeds benefitting active and retired fire and rescue personnel.

This annual Don Vines Memorial No Limit Poker Tournament – poker-for-a-cause event – will be held at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino with a chance to snag a seat to the 2017 World Series of Poker main event.

In the VFRCA event competitors will bet their chips for fun at Planet Hollywood’s exclusive Mezzanine floor. The event starts at 2 p.m. and is open to the public. The $200 buy-in includes the chance to win tiered-cash prizes; the winner of the tournament is guaranteed a $10,000 seat to the WSOP main event.

For more information visit www.vfrca.org. Participants may buy-in at the main Mezzanine floor the day of the tournament.

Also, in Reno, Silver Legacy Resort Casino announced the recent opening of its brand new poker room, which will service guests and ONE Club members at Silver Legacy, Eldorado Resort Casino and Circus Circus Reno. The poker room is equipped with 13 tables, open 24 hours and is located on the main casino floor next to the all-new Canter’s deli.

Silver Legacy’s new poker room is managed by Margie Heintz, who is credited with being the first woman to ever deal at the WSOP. Heintz is also a 2011 member of the Women in Poker Hall of Fame.

The room is spacious, with high ceilings, 12 TVs, three custom-made chandeliers and a marble concessions bar that serves coffee, donuts, muffins, cookies, brownies and sandwiches throughout the day. Private tournaments are available for business, golf groups, bachelor parties and more.

In addition, the poker room is now available on the Bravo Poker Live app, which allows players to view game schedules and tournaments.

Finally, a No Limit Hold’em Grand Opening Tournament will be held July 6-9 and will feature Beat the Boss and Guest Bounties, plus a $10,000 prize pool and $2,000 in bounties. To qualify, poker players must log 60 hours of play now through July 3 then participate in qualifying flights on July 6 at noon or 6 p.m. to compete in the finals on July 9 at noon.

A daily tournament is offered for $40 with $10 bounties at 10 a.m. Sign-ups begin at 9 a.m. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, a 6 p.m. tournament for $45 with $10 bounties is available. Sign-ups begin at 5 p.m.
