Talking Stick Resort and Casino near Phoenix will remain closed until Aug. 19, as a result of a fierce storm that swept through the area early Saturday.
The casino said earlier this week that water from multiple storms flowed into the area where the main and backup generators are housed, causing serious damage.
"Teams have been working on cleanup non-stop while the operations team is assessing options for access to power and a phased reopening plan," Talking Stick’s statement read.
Resort officials said various events were canceled, including a major poker tournament are now cancelled.
The Arizona State Poker Championship with about 1,000 players and a $1.5 million prize pool was already underway. Those signed up for Saturday and Sunday can get a refund, casino officials announced. Those still in the game Friday when the tournament was stopped will split $553,000 based on their chip count.
Resort officials say they are reaching out to guests with reservations to move them to other nearby hotels.
