Twin River has hosted its very first casino gambling after voters approved blackjack, roulette and other Las Vegas-style games for the northern Rhode Island casino.
Friday’s “soft-opening” was for invited guests only ahead of a grand opening set for next week.
Twin River spokeswoman Patti Doyle said Friday’s event served as a test-run for the facility’s 65 gambling tables. Another soft-opening event is planned for Monday and will be open to members of the public.
Voters last fall approved Twin River’s request to expand its slot parlor offerings to include casino games. The company spent the winter and spring hiring and training hundreds of new workers and renovating space at its Lincoln facility.
A formal ribbon-cutting is planned for Wednesday.
