Jett Gaming finalized the purchase of the Gold Strike Casino in Jean, Nevada on April 30, 2015, and is in the process of converting the property to Terrible’s Road House Casino.
Lots of upgrades are in process.
We’ll have to come back and review this one in a few months when more of the renovations and changes have been completed but for now we can report the following.
To start, they have upgraded their slot system, now offer TITO (Ticket In-Ticket Out) play and the slot club name has been changed to Terrible’s Road House.
The former Gold Strike tiers (Signature and Signature Elite) have currently been eliminated but are under re-evaluation for the future. So everyone uses just one card currently to earn points for free slot play and comps. Old Gold Strike cards no longer work, so if you’re a former member you will need a new card.
Slot points from old cards are being transferred to the new ones, but not comps. You must keep the old card and can still redeem old comps at the gift shop, restaurants or for hotel rooms.
This is another “mystery” club, at least for the time being, in that there is no set formula for earning points, but rather accumulated by game played and denomination. We do know 1,000 points equals $1 in free slot play. Comps are earned in addition to free play points.
One video poker player reported he was earning .10 in free slot play, indicating $1 played equals 1 point. (Slot points may be different.) With the new slot system, free play can now be downloaded directly at the machines.
They are now in the process of upgrading hotel rooms and a new 24 hour Denny’s Restaurant has opened in the former buffet location. Players can also use comps for the Steakhouse and Sutter’s Snacks or stop by Krispy Kreme for your sweet tooth.
First time visitors with no prior card can earn 200 points as a new member within the first 24 hours of signing up plus receive $10 in free slot play as a gift. They do offer a Trucker Special of $10 off hotel rooms every day with a CDL card and $10 hotel discounts every day with valid military ID (family members of active military personnel are also eligible).
Along with the aforementioned changes, management indicates they will be adding many more promotions in the near future. The 37,000 square-foot casino features slots, video keno and video poker plus blackjack and roulette table games. Every Friday and Saturday bands play live on the Main Casino Stage. They also have a full-service banquet facility.
The Gold Strike/Terrible’s Road House is located 22 miles (20 minutes) southwest of Las Vegas off the I-15 (12 miles from the border of California) at No. 1 Main Street in Jean.
While the new website is still under construction, you can watch for updates at: www.goldstrikejean.com (the web address may be changing soon) but it may be best to call for current information. The toll free number is 800-634-1359, or in Nevada, call 702-477-5000.
