Ray Poirier has been a resident of Las Vegas, and a member of the GamingToday staff, for the past 20 years. He was invited by longtime friend and GT founder, Chuck Di Rocco, to leave beautiful New Hampshire to become part of the GamingToday team.
Like Chuck, Ray has had two primary careers: newspapers and horse racing. After a dozen years as a reporter and editor at the Lawrence, Mass., Eagle-Tribune, he left to become publicity director, and later general manager, of Rockingham Park in Salem, N.H. The track was ravaged by fire on July 29, 1980.
He later held executive positions with Ogden Corp. at Suffolk Downs in East Boston, Mass., and Fairmont Park in Collinsville, Illinois.
Ray and his wife, Shirley, have five children and 10 grandchildren.
