Horses to Watch at Oaklawn Park

WAR VETERAN: Was in a $16K claimer traveling a flat mile in this non- winners of three race. He came out looking for clear sailing into the first turn then back to the inside at the quarter pole. He had no shot to catch the lone speed but finished more than seven lengths clear of the rest in this 11 horse field, he can move up a notch and go 1 1/16 next out.

DREAMONMEBABY: Was breaking from post position 12 in this 1 1/16 mil maiden race for a $40K price tag. Was wide into the first turn, then got fanned five-wide into the lane when making a big move. He lost his momentum but still ran on for the show money, just missing the place by a half-length. He is sitting on the maiden breaker.

LOCALLY OWNED: Just loved this one at 10-1 with Joel Rosario riding for trainer Albert Stall. As racing luck would have it he had to be steadied hard when in tight just after the break and was last in this 10-horse field. Rosario swung him out for room into the lane and blasted home going through traffic, just missing the place by a dwindling neck and the win by a head in what was a huge effort.

VIOLENT SPEED: Was in from Golden Gate for trainer Doug O’Neill and was going six furlongs in this $20K claimer for 3-year-old fillies. She was far back early after a slow start in this 11-horse field on a speed-favoring track. She swung out for room, coming with a big six-wide run finishing full of run to finish fourth in what was a much better-than-looked race. She may get the stretchout in her next start here with a quick return.
