OAK TREE at HOLLYWOOD PARK

SAMBA SCHOOL: Irish bred out of the Mike Mitchell barn took the drop in class and won for fun here at Fairplex despite encountering some trouble when making her big move; she had to wait for room while three wide. Once clear, Samba cruised to the front and owned it going away. Mitchell got the needed confidence builder and now he just may find a good spot for this filly on the grass going long at Hollywood.

WARREN’S PRANCER: If you happened to be named Warren or you were on the Warren horses at Fairplex, well, you won a lot of races including the one this colt ran. This first time starter looked real good on the track and ran to his looks, he dueled on a four horse pace and was widest of all. He got to the front at the sixteenth marker and just pulled away to win with ease. This guy could come right back and get the repeat win.

CASA O: It took a while for this gelding to break his maiden but he finally got the job done gong 11/16 at Fairplex and he did it in style as he lagged dead last but then was shot out of a cannon turning into the stretch and just shot away, winning by four lengths. I love these maidens that take some time getting their diplomas as the light goes on and they come right back to run big next time out. Trainer John Sadler will find the right spot for this gelding next time out.

BENCH THE JUDGE: Was exiting our HTW list; he came back in the Pomona Derby to win convincingly, rewarding his backer with the easiest of wins paying $6.20 in what was an overlay to say the least. Trainer Baffert has this colt in tip top form; look for him to find a nice stakes race at Hollywood and get another big win. We just hope the Judge does not go on the bench again. $$$$$

PURSUXIT: First time starter for trainer Paul Aquirre was let go at 13-1, he settled off the front runners but really wanted to run but was rank to handle and a little green. He got in tight due mostly to his own antics and had to be steadied hard off heels on the first turn; he moved up four wide and made a big rally picking up the place money in what was a very good effort. This guy has some run and will be a good bet at what should be a good price next time out.

DAPPER GENE: In this 40k optional claiming race at Fairplex, Gene looked to have a good shot at the Pedroza .90 cents on the dollar odds on favorite but he was squeezed and bumped hard as he got pinballed leaving the gate. Jockey David Flores had to take him back, losing several lengths; he made a three wide move into the second turn and had to shift wider into the lane but kept running to finish third, some four lengths clear of the rest. This guy will appreciate the Hollywood Park turns and his new connections will recoup some of the 40k claiming price next time out.

GOLDEN GATE FIELDS

SAINTLY SPIRIT: Just had little or no shot at running down the lone speed but made a nice late inside run picking up the place money while well clear of the rest and looks to be sitting on the win.

CAVANAL: Was last seen winning at the Sacramento Fair back in July, he took all the action in this flat mile on the grass and won like something good to eat; look for this gelding to come right back and repeat going long on the green. $$$$$

BREZZA MARINA: Was a release on this website; if you are a horse player and are going to bet Hollywood or the Gate and you don’t get our website picks, get it now and you can get in on horses like Brezza Marina who paid $13.20 and look for this filly to find a nice spot next time out, and she could repeat at what will be another good price.
