Ed Burgart, the voice of Southern California Quarter Horse racing at Los Alamitos Race Course, says he will continue as the track announcer for the night racing action here through the end of 2019.

Bugart had previously announced his intention to retire but told simulcast viewers Saturday that, “I had a great conversation with Ed Allred, the owner of Los Alamitos Race Course, and I've signed an agreement to remain here for another year.”

Known for his handicapping proficiency and accurate race calls, Burgart, 66, has been the voice of Los Alamitos in 1981. “I really love the sport and I'm looking forward to being here another year,” he said.

Burgart will remain as the morning-line maker at Los Alamitos Race Course and will continue to provide his commentary in the nightly Los Alamitos racing program.

Live nighttime racing continues at Los Alamitos on a Friday thru Sunday schedule until December 16. The track will next host a daytime thoroughbred meet starting on Thursday, September 6 thru September 23.
