Off-shore jailing for David Carruthers

David Carruthers, the British-born executive who helped build one of the largest Internet gaming operations in the Caribbean, has been sentenced to three years in prison on federal racketeering charges.

Carruthers, 52, was an associate of founder Gary Kaplan, who also was convicted and is serving a prison sentence.

BetonSports, based in Costa Rica, reportedly handled several billions of dollars in sports wagering before the principals were indicted in 2006.
