Re-bidding Sought

While state and local officials scratched their heads wondering why Steve Wynn backed out of the Philadelphia casino deal, a state representative has asked gaming regulators to immediately start the process of re-bidding the license.

Actually, the license was granted to Foxwoods Resort, the Connecticut Indian tribal group that failed to generate the necessary funding for the project.

Interest by gaming developer Steve Wynn was warmly welcomed. This made his sudden departure from the casino rescue plan more puzzling.

However, nearby slots and casino operators such as Philadelphia Park and Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS), stand to benefit from the delayed project.
