Gaming companies that reported quarter earnings last week were:

WMS Industries (WMS) reported earnings of $33 million or $0.55 per share compared to last year’s $24.4 million or $0.43 per share.

Bally Technologies Inc. (BYI) had a profit of $22.6 million or $0.39 per share that was down from last year’s $29.3 million or $0.52 per share. The company said it also had taken a charge of $11.4 million or $0.13 per share.

Dover Downs Entertainment Inc. (DDE) reported a net profit of $1.67 million or $0.05 per share compared to $4.2 million or $0.13 per share in 2010. The company said profit was hindered by an increase in gambling taxes that cost it $3.4 million or the equivalent of $0.06 per share.

Although it is privately held, Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. reported it had lost $195.6 million during the first quarter. This was substantially higher than last year’s loss of $132.7 million. Revenues during the period fell to $2.19 billion from the $2.54 billion reported in 2009.
