Last week, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino had a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new 3,000-seat event center that featured Hank Williams Jr. and Lady Antebellum for the Labor Day celebration.

Come December, the property will open a 20-story hotel tower with 530 rooms, along with a full-service restaurant tied to Southern cooking queen Paula Deen. Also, the additions will cause the gambling floor to double in size.

On the drawing board are new shops, an 18,000 square foot spa and two more restaurants that are scheduled for 2012.
