Ailing Brown replaced

Mickey Brown, the man most responsible for arranging the slots deal in Connecticut, had triple bypass surgery late last month and has resigned his post with Empire Resorts, owner of Monticello Raceway in upstate New York.

Replacing Brown is Manny Pearlman, founder of Liberation Investment Group and a director of Multimedia Games.

In the early 1990’s, when Connecticut was having trouble balancing its budget, Brown, then an official with Foxwoods Casino, offered to pay the state 25 percent of its gross slots receipts if the state would approve exclusivity in the installation of slot machines at the tribal casino.
