Work has begun on the first casino to be built with funds from the Export-Import Bank of China. The $3.4 billion Baha Mar complex is located on the Cable Beach of Nassau, Bahamas.

Developers said it will hire 8,000 workers in the construction project that calls for four hotels with a total of about 2,250 rooms, as well as a golf course, retail space, convention center and the largest casino in the Caribbean.

Baha Mar will compete with the Atlantis Casino Resort.

As part of the agreement with the Bahamian government, Baha Mar will import about 7,000 Chinese construction workers in stages.
