When voters went to the polls in November, 2009, they were told if they voted for the establishment of four casinos in their state the result would be jobs…jobs during a particularly difficult economic environment.

Monday, more than 200 Columbus, Ohio, politicians, business leaders and residents showed up to watch Penn National Gaming Inc. (PENN) break ground on a $400 million casino and parking garage.

And, yes, just as the company promised, there are jobs attached. During construction, some 3,500 workers will be involved. When the casino opens late next year, about 2,000 employees will be needed.

Casinos are also planned for Cincinnati, Cleveland and Toledo.
