Sacramento’s leaders are still hoping to keep the NBA’s Sacramento Kings in town whether the team is owned by the Maloof Family or by someone else.

But, the Maloofs insist they are not selling.

The concern of Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson is that the Maloofs will move the team to Anaheim, California, or some other locale. Hoping to keep the team, Johnson has solicited some $9 million from local concerns as promotional incentives.

The Maloofs say they need a new arena and have until May 2 to file with the NBA the needed paperwork seeking to move the team.

Sitting on the sidelines is supermarket tycoon Ron Burkle who has expressed an interest in acquiring the team.
