On the royals wedding scoreboard, it’s British Royals 1, Steve Wynn Royals 1 with the Wynns leaving the altar perhaps to deliver a walk-off hit.
The Las Vegas icon and fiancee Andrea Hissom were prepared to say yes at high noon Saturday before some 250 special guests. At Wynn’s news conference last Wednesday he said no media would be allowed into the weekend events, though the A-list is every bit as impressive as what occurred in London.
The best man was actor Clint Eastwood and the guest list reportedly included Donald Trump, Garth Brooks, Lionel Richie, Sylvester Stallone and Celine Dion. Brooks is performing at the Wynn. Dion is headlining at Caesars Palace.
"My best man is a guy that I was best man for," Wynn said. "He got married in my backyard in 1996 and I dropped the ring in the grass….When I told him I was getting married April 30, he said ‘I’ll drop the ring for you.’"
The couple will not have a honeymoon anytime soon. He’ll be speaking at a conference in Los Angeles Sunday night.
Wynn, 69, was credited with the dramatic resurgence and expansion of the Las Vegas Strip in the 1990s. His companies refurbished or built the Golden Nugget, Mirage, Treasure Island, Bellagio, Wynn and Encore.
Wynn’s former wife Elaine reportedly did not attend the ceremony. Elaine remains a director of the company’s board.
