A pair of Minnesota lawmakers seeking to find a way to pay for a new stadium for the Minnesota Vikings football team has filed legislation that would permit casino-style gambling at the Canterbury Park racetrack.

The Vikings currently eye a $1.1 billion stadium in Arden Hills but are $131 million short of the funds needed for construction.

The so-called racino bill would generate tax dollars the sponsors would like to apply to the stadium funding plan. However, supporters of the Vikings stadium project are not convinced a racino is the answer.
