Alex Yemenidjian, who spent several years working with CEO Terry Lanni in developing MGM Resorts for Kirk Kerkorian, realized he would need to double down on his investment in the Tropicana Hotel Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

So, he spent $180 million on a complete overhaul of the property.

Now finished, the new Tropicana Las Vegas has been drawing raves from early goers.

"If you saw the before and after pictures, it’s very dramatic," Yemenidjian was quoted as saying.

"The objective was to create an emotionally engaging environment that is bright, that is fresh, that is colorful and makes customers feel good…feel as if they’re in a resort…and feel a sense of understated elegance."

Visitors seem to agree he has succeeded.
