District Attorney not officially named in illegal gambling operation

"We’re not naming any names, but we believe an elected official from the Cape and Islands district attorney’s office tipped off men involved in an illegal gambling operation."

That essentially was what federal prosecutors were suggesting when they charged three men for being involved in illegal gambling. The three pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Boston last week.

Although the prosecutors didn’t name anyone in particular, when suggesting an elected official tipped off the gamblers, it was noted that there is only one elected official in that office, District Attorney Michael O’Keefe.

O’Keefe denied any involvement in the illegal activity.
