There may be life in Atlantic City yet, say officials, following the announcement that the New Jersey attraction recorded an increase of 3 percent in Memorial Day weekend visitors.

A traffic count, officials said, recorded 372,000 vehicles on their way to the beach resort. This compared to 362,000 recorded last year.

Don Marrandino, eastern regional president of Caesars Entertainment Corp., credited the weather for the improved performance.

"The weather played a major factor in the success of this past weekend," said Marrandino, who noted that venues along the entire New Jersey coastline experienced increased attendance.
