Jorge Hank Rhon, the Tijuana, Mexico, gambling mogul, is now facing criminal charges relating to a cache of illegal weapons found in a raid on his home.
A former mayor of Tijuana, Hank Rhon is the son of one of Mexico’s most powerful politicians in the Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI, that ruled Mexico for nearly three-quarters of a century.
Included in the haul were 40 rifles, 48 handguns, 9,298 bullets, and a gas grenade. Hank Rhon denied any knowledge of the guns.
The Tijuana estate where he was arrested includes a casino, a dog racing track, a private zoo with 20,000 animals and a soccer complex.
