You can’t keep a good resort down.

The Plaza Hotel and Casino is gearing up to reopen after more than six months of renovations. Operators hope it will add new life to downtown Las Vegas. Tony Santo, president and CEO of Play LV, which operates the property, walked members of the media through its $35 million renovation, which started back in November. The iconic downtown property is set to re-open at the end of August.

The majority of the furnishings were purchased from the Fontainebleau Hotel, which stopped construction in the economic slump. The new Plaza has 800 positions to fill. The two-week job fair began June 27 and runs through July 1, and again July 5-8.
