While it awaits a gaming license from the Nevada Gaming Commission, William Hill Plc, the United Kingdom bookmaking giant, is looking forward to expanding the types of wagers currently made in Nevada. You know, something like will Sarah Palin run for the presidency or who will win on "American Idol?"

In an interview with Bloomberg, Ralph Topping, William Hill CEO, noted Nevada regulators have already approved non-sports betting on condition that each subject is cleared in advance.

These "novelty" wagers, said Topping won’t be for big money, but simply at the fun level of $1 and $2 bets.

William Hill’s entry into the U.S. gaming market is being made available by the company’s purchase of American Wagering Inc.’s Leroy’s Horse and Sports, Brandywine Bookmaking LLC and Club Cal Neva.
